Read Across America

This week is Read Across America in the elementary school! We have 5 spirit days to celebrate as well as a reading competition where everyone is encouraged to read as much as possible so we can “Read Around the World”. We earn 1 mile for every minute of reading done! It is 24,000 miles around the Earth at the equator so PreK-8 we really have to work hard to make it all the way around the globe!
Here are our Spirit Days:
Monday – Crazy Hair Day
Tuesday – Grinchy Green Day
Wednesday – Twin Day
Thursday – Wacky Sock Day
Friday – Pajama Day!
All spirit days are optional and just a part of the FUN!!!
Friday is the Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast and
Saturday
is
Dr. Seuss’
birthday!
Lets make this a GREAT week for Reading in our Classroom!

Happy New Year

Happy New Year, In 2013 the third grade will be working as hard as ever and I will be helping the students to cover their standards. We will be covering divition and multiplication very soon. I hope all of the third graders had a good Christmas and are ready for school. In science the third grade will be learning about rocks, minerals, and layers of the earth. On Thursday, January 17 we will be taking a trip to the National Coal Mining Museum in Wakefield. Parent permission slips will go home on our first week back. I am looking forward to seeing all of the students, I am ready for school and I hope they are too. Debbie Watts
